Magazine Group Review of Creative Steps
Parents, school workers and holiday or children's social club leaders may find Creative Steps magazine is the perfect publication if they are seeking some inspiration on what events to organise for the children in their care.
The title, which is published quarterly, contains tips on organising events and activities that suit kids aged up to 11 years old, be it arts and crafts or role-playing.
Every issue contains step-by-step instructions on how to run projects that will encourage children to be creative and use their imagination, while many of the suggestions are geared to follow school curriculum and so will benefit youngsters academically.
Many of the art and craft initiatives make use of inexpensive materials - meaning they can be organised on a limited budget - and the current spring 2011 issue contains more than 100 ideas that are suited to the time of year, including tips on making Easter and Mother's Day-themed items.
The publication is divided into sections for kids aged up to five, between five and seven and between seven and 11, so readers can easily find tasks that will be suited to the children they are responsible for. The initiatives follow the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 and 2 and also help develop a number of other skills, like coordination, reasoning and teamwork.
In addition to the activity inspiration, the magazine also contains Reading Corner, a selection of reviews of the newest children's books on the market that could be invaluable for a school librarian or someone who runs an after-school reading club.
